Cork is one of the few naturally grown closed-cell foams that have never been duplicated will synthetic material. It has been an item of commerce for at least 2500 years and was used by the early greeks for shoes, floats and stoppers. As referred to in this article, cork is the outer bark at the cork oak. Many countries have tagged and registered each cork oak and have established laws to project the trees from being cut for firewood, lumber or other.
