GREEN HOUSE
[EIRI/EDPR/1524] (J.C.315INR, 316US$)
INTRODUCTION
Green house are frequently used to control or modify the exciting environmental factor which effects the plant growth. If the environmental parameter are controlled, crops can be produced for specific market dates and the quality maintained by eliminating many of the variation and hazards associated with weather Temperature can be regulated with varying degree of precision damage from wind and rain are avoided. Secondly the injury from plant diseases and insect is reduced but not completely eliminated.
Growing media, moisture content and fertility levels can be adjusted to meet plant requirement. The precision with which the environment is regulated is determined by the ability of the grower to manage the green houses equipment and control.
A green house is a structure covered with transparent material that utilizes solar radiant energy to grow plants. The majority of green houses have heating, ventilating and cooling equipment for temperature control. Further green houses may be covered with glass or glass substitute. They are generally called plastic green house when covered with film plastic and when covered with fibre glass, they are said to be fibre glass green house.
A green house (also called a glasshouse) is a building or complex in which plants are grown. These structures range in size from small sheds to industrial-sized buildings. A miniature greenhouse is known as a cold frame.
Commercial glass greenhouses are often high tech production facilities for vegetables or flowers. The glass greenhouses are filled with equipment like screening installations, heating, cooling, lighting and also may be automatically controlled by a computer to maximize potential growth.
A green house is a structural building with different types of covering materials, such as a glass or plastic roof and frequently glass or plastic walls; it heats up because incoming visible sunshine is absorbed inside the structure. Air warmed by the heat from warmed interior surfaces is retained in the building by the roof and wall; the air that is warmed near the ground is prevented from rising indefinitely and flowing away. This is not the same mechanism as the "greenhouse effect".
