Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) pipes and fittings offer excellent resistance to aggressive environments, including chemical and electrochemical corrosion. As a non-metallic and non-conductive material, PVC is not subject to galvanic or electrochemical effects and is resistant to a wide range of industrial waters and chemicals. UPVC pipes are widely used for drinking water distribution, sewerage, discharge systems, underground wiring, and other fluid transportation applications.
The material is tasteless, odorless, and chemically inert, making it suitable for transporting liquids intended for human consumption. Its smooth internal surface reduces flow head loss and minimizes the buildup of deposits. PVC pipes are lightweight compared with steel pipes, which can reduce transportation costs and simplify installation, particularly in difficult or remote locations. Installation can be carried out using solvent-glue socket joints or rubber-seal socket joints, providing leak-resistant connections and relatively simple maintenance.
UPVC pipes also offer durability because they do not rust, rot, or readily wear over time. They are available with a range of fittings and can be manufactured using domestically available machinery and raw materials.
