It is soft and fine, moisture absorbent and non - allergic and thus becomes a very attractive and comfortable wearing material. Its very special sheen and ability to accept colours of varying shades makes it a material ideally suited for special occasion. Hence, in the history of clothing industry silk has had and will continue to have aunique place seldom challenged by any other material.
Sericulture is the production of cultivated silk. Mulberry silk is obtained by the woroms which are fed on mulberry leaves in order to produce fine silk. Tursh or wild silk is taken from worms fed on leaves and it is coarser and less even. The source of silk is the cocoon that the silk worm sprins round itself prior to emerging as a moth.
