Industry Overview
Triple superphosphate (TSP), also known as concentrated superphosphate, is a high-analysis phosphorus fertilizer containing approximately 44 to 51% available P2O5. Its phosphorus concentration is substantially higher than that of ordinary superphosphate, making it widely used in the production of high-analysis compound fertilizers.
TSP contains approximately 45 to 50% monocalcium or water-soluble phosphate and 17 to 20% lime. Its concentrated form offers advantages in transportation, storage, and application compared with more dilute phosphate fertilizers. The product is manufactured by reacting phosphoric acid with rock phosphate, producing predominantly water-soluble monocalcium phosphate without calcium sulfate. Depending on the manufacturing process, a significant proportion of fluorine may remain in the product in forms such as fluorosilicate or calcium fluoride.
As a fertilizer, TSP supplies readily available phosphorus that supports root development and crop establishment. It can contribute to improved yields in short-season crops such as cereals, potatoes, and certain vegetables, particularly where phosphorus availability is a limiting factor. The project covers a TSP manufacturing plant with a capacity of 1200 Tons/day, together with associated acid plants, auxiliary facilities, milling, reaction, bagging, utilities, environmental controls, and supporting infrastructure.
