The global aluminium industry ha depicted an undisputable production growth since a decade. This in turn has resulted in widespread Brownfield and Greenfield expansions across the value chain of aluminium. Most of the aluminium projects of 2019 are driven by upstream integration strategies of metal producers and expansions adding value to the primary production. 1. GUINEA ALUMINA CORPORATION

This project is one of the largest Greenfield investments in Guinea since the period of last 40 years. Most of the funds were provided by Greenfield mining project financing in Guinea and also from different finance institutions, commercial banks as well as export credit agencies. 

2. METRO MINING’s BAUXITE HILLS PROJECT

This is another project in Australia that has achieved milestones in 2019. Metro Mining Limited has received loan from Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), so that this project does well. This project depicts the strongest monthly performance since its operations began in April 2018. The shipping as well as mining results are performing well above the budgetary requirements. 

3. AMRUB BAUXITE MINE

This project in Queensland is associated with the processing and port facilities with a sharp increase in the annual bauxite export capacity catering to increased demand of bauxite. 

4. EGA AI TAWEELAH ALUMINA REFINERY

This refinery in UAE is expected to expand the businesses upstream in the value chain of aluminium. This is the first alumina refinery in UAE which marks the beginning of new industrial activity in the country. This refinery produces 2 million tonnes of alumina on an yearly basis. This refinery is known to convert bauxite into alumina. This refinery is expected to secure the supply of raw materials at competitive prices and further strengthen the business related to this refinery. 

5. CHALIECO’S ALUMINA REFINERY IN INDONESIA

This aluminium refinery is built in Indonesia. This project has won the contract of construction, engineering and procurement. As per the annual output, this project shall have an output of 1 million tonnes of alumina which is of metallurgical grade. 

6. HIGH PURITY ALUMINA PROJECTS IN AUSTRALIA

This project is already operating a pilot plant in Canada and has sufficient quantities of HPA supplying to the customers or the best of product development patterns. The company intends to bring about a transformation of pilot production at the plant into complete full scale production levels. 

7. ALBA LINE 6 EXPANSION PROJECT

The company manufacturing this project is seeking to bring about an expansion in its portfolio and increase sales with a major emphasis on the US market. This company depicted the best of its operations in 2019 with production upto 1.35 million tonnes in Alba’s history (first time). 

8. CHINA’S “GREEN ALUMINIUM PARK”

This aluminium plant of China is capitalizing much on its hydropower resources. Most of the Chinese aluminium producers have access to cleaner hydropower for nergy intensive smelting processes. This plant has high operational capacities with around 5.8 million tonnes in operation.
