Dairy Farming, Milk Processing and Dairy Products

In this review article, we shall cover three topics – as clearly mentioned in the topic – Dairy farming, Milk processing and Dairy Products. To start with, let us first understand if dairy farming has to do with just unnecessary slaughtering of animals who are just innocent. Dairry farming is dangerous, especially for animals producing different kinds of dairy products.

Dairy farming actually refers to a kind of animal agriculture producing milk to be consumed by humans. Majority of animals allotted for dairy farming are much subjected to pregnancies which are forced, so that they produce milk till a certain age until when the animal is not needed. When dairy farming is done, it leads to production of common staples used in houses such as yogurt, butter and cheese.

Milk produced by dairy farming has a lot of fat, bacteria as well as certain proteins. The goat’s milk is also used for production of dairy products. Most of the dairy farmers in modern times use milk fats and vacuum tubes to streamline the processes related to processing of milk as well as milk collection. Research indicates that the processes of dairy farming tends to abuse cows and other milk bearing animals.

When dairy farming is applied for milk processing, it resorts to two production methods: manual as well as artificial. In the natural manner, the operations of dairy farming allows bulls and cows to naturally mate. In the artificial operations, methods of artificial insemination are opted for speedening up the breeding cycles. When natural and artificial means re opted, cows give birth to the young in certain intervals. The gestation cycle of a cow mimics that of a human cycle. Specific hormones and chemicals are injected too produce more milk than the needs of the calves. This leads to profitability of the farmers but decreases the life of the animal.

When milk is consumed by the babies, it helps in improving their immune systems and makes them absolutely read to eat solid foods. Both humans and calves consume milk till they are ready to consume solid foods. It is important to understand the processes involved in dairy industry, have appropriate monitoring as well as have the right standards and quality put in place. The milk processing procedures include collection at farm level, to intake at dairy plant , include all the processing steps and have a list of end products. It is important to have the right quality control tests that raise the standards as well as hygiene levels of the consumers opting for dairy products.

Various kinds of dairy products are produced by the methods opted for dairy farming – such as fermented milk, yogurt, milk, cream, butter, cheese, casein, custard and others. Thus, we have understood well that dairy farming is actually a class of agriculture that resorts to long term milk production methods. In developing countries, it needs to be well noted that the dairy farms consist typically of high producing dairy cows. Thus, we have successfully covered various aspects related to dairy farming, milk processing and dairy products.
