But, frozen potatoes accounted for more than 60% of the total sales. China, Russia, India, USA are the largest producers of potatoes. Asia accounts for more than 50% of

the world’s potato production, with China and India sharing for nearly 38% of the production. Although many countries across the world are boosting their potato production, China and India are emerging as the clear world leaders.

The global potato consumption is shifting from fresh potato consumption to processed potato products. The most important processed potato product is french fries, which has a consumption of approximately 7 million metric ton in a year. Crisp potato is another category which is one of the most consumed product after french fries in most of the developing countries.
